Colleen Hoover tackles the intricacies of marital abuse from an enlightened point of view. Her characters weren't one dimensional (the villain, the abused, the rescuer). Instead they were layered as humans are with good and bad, insecurities and doubts as to their next step. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did, but I literally could not put it down. I fell asleep listening to it and had it playing in my ear while at work.
The book was so good partly because the characters were relatable, the story line relatable, the doubts we have when we know we must walk away from a relationship for our own good, but we find it difficult because their are still so many positives and benefits...relatable. I won't soon forget these characters or their story.
Although Ms. Hoover tackles a difficult subject, I appreciate the fact that the story was still a love story although fraught with moments of intense pain. It deserved the accolades.
