Best reference work ever written in and for Indian Affairs. The original printing. I consider Felix S. Cohen the father and architect of "organized Indian law." Never use the 1956 edition. It is a Termination tome. The more recent editions update the original and are not as exhaustive as the first version. I can't even imagine how research was done before this book came out. Two of the best features are the breakdown of legislation by era at the beginning and at the back arranged alphabetically historical treaty, statute, executive order and other data for tribes. This is a must have for a complete library. This review is based upon my half-century's experience in Indian law. Judge Willett (Ret.)
