The book is well written and it reaches the goal to keep you glued to its pages. But … the author put too much in the pan and when you put too much the soup could became not easy to be digested. At a certain point I was thinking that, for lack of additional possible problems, Lydia could get the yellow fewer to complete the drama. Also the world is black and white: all the Mexican (very few exceptions) are bad guys, there is no place where you are safe and the only possible place to live is United States. Also the psychology of Lydia before the carnage is hard to be believed: her relationship with the head of the cartel, after having discovered who he is, is illogic or stupid especially coming from a woman having a solid cultural background. Bottom line you can like reading this book but don’t put your expectations too high. Rodolfo Ambrosetti
