This was my album of the year for 2023. For fans of old The Faceless, some think of it as Planetary Duality Pt. 2. Both albums do have a lot in common but Datalysium has a more crisp/abrupt sound to it, which I dig. This album is a technical masterpiece in a genre named for its technicality (instrumental proficiency). It's fast, hard, atmospheric at times, dark and full of punches. Even when it slows down it does so perfectly. Divinertia II exemplifies that. That track then leads into Automated Twilight which is the atmospheric voyage driven by both clean vocals (only cleans on the album) and low growls at the same time. This album is a trip, man.
