13th is such a jaw dropping and eye-opening documentary. It opens the viewers eyes to what the justice system in the US looks like for African Americans. What Heather Hamilton in her review fails to see and to state is that not only did this stuff happen during the civil rights and Jim Crow era it is happening now, and it will continue to happen and Ava DuVernay the director of 13th shows that. Also, what Stephanie Johnson failed to see in the movie is that they are getting arrested and detained for crimes that white would barely get a slap on the wrist for and again Ava DuVernay brings this exact point up in the movie if you watch it.
