The setting, costumes, acting are first rate. The stories, not so much. It’s plodding, uninteresting, and quite frankly, not much happens. In a word, for a cop story, it’s…dull.

As all British productions seem to have, the genre, costumes, acting are first rate. The story isn’t! It’s…humdrum, ordinary, and not all that much happens. In fact, the script is only 2 stars, and that’s fairly generous. That said, it’s worth a watch if you like British tv stuff.

It’s plodding. Moves at a snail’s pace. The acting is good, but the actors don’t have much to work with. The directorial work builds tension in contra position to the story, which hasn’t any, at least in the early stages. Haven’t finished it, but first impressions are: ZZzzzzz! The countryside is bleakly beautiful, but not enough to make this a “must see.” But, if you’re suffering from insomnia, this’ll help you sleep.

This drama is good until the last chapter and ending, which are quite simply, awful. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this one.
