I quite enjoyed "Here". Although I'm not your typical movie goer. I'm not into super heroes, Marvel movies, tons of fight scenes, massive amounts of fighting and killing, and plots that are completely unrealistic. It's really refreshing to see a movie without a single gun used in it. No one's trying to take control or conquer anything. Here is simply a charming story of the history of a home over time where many people have lived. I do think there weren't nearly enough scenes with the current modern day family living there. I also think it was dimly lit, and a little too focused on Tom Hanks' character. Most of the people who had lived there had much more interesting stories to be told. I kept hoping for more scenes with other characters. Overall, I really liked it. I have seen next to zero movies in the past few years that I truly enjoyed. But Here was definitely a treat.

Why everyone says this movie is so emotional, I will never understand. I didn't get that at all. I kept waiting for some life changing event to happen, so we'd know the plot of the movie. That never happens. It's just a movie about a single father and his daughter on vacation. He's depressed and she's just an average 11 year old girl. That's it. Nothing else happens. The acting was good, especially by the girl. Other than that, it was very disappointing. My husband is a screen writer, and he didn't get it either.
