Enter the Gungeon is a fast paced, bullet hell, rogue-like dungeon crawler that sees you delving deep into the “Gungeon” slaying enemies with a wide variety of guns and items. As the name suggests the game's main weapon is guns. These guns range from pistols, to machine guns, to guns from pop-culture (like the BFG from Doom called the BSG big shooty gun in the gungeon) to random gums that almost seem like a joke (like the jk-47 an AK-47 with a noodle like barrel that you can swing around to scare enemies). Each gun is unique and there are over 200 of them! The other tools used to survive the Gungeon are items, items can be anything from a bullet modifier that makes your bullets explode to the boomerang from Legend of Zelda. And just like the guns each item is unique and there are hundreds of them. One cool feature in the game is called synergies. Synergies are combinations of items, guns, or items and guns that make the items or guns even more powerful. For example, you can combine the Megahand (a mega man arm cannon) with the Balloon gun (a gun made out of balloons like a balloon animal) to get the synergy called “Get Equipped With -A- “ which makes the Megahand shoot little tornados. Another fun mechanic is curse. Some items in the game are cursed, a good rule to follow is if the weapon resembles a melee weapon like the Casey (a bat that can hit bullets like a baseball to return them to whoever shot them) it's cursed. Cursed weapons add a certain amount of curse to you which increases the chance of spawning super difficult cursed enemies that do double damage and have lots more health. If you have too much curse you summon a special curse enemy that resembles a red grim reaper that shoots a load of bullets at you with it's sythe. BUT cursed items are more powerful than non cursed items making you more powerful at the cost of harder enemies. The story of enter the gungeon is that the gungeon holds a powerful weapon, a gun that can kill the past. With this gun you can go back in time and change something from your past. The game follows four outcasts whos pasts haunt them. Upon finding the gun you will be transported into their past regrets and be able to change history for the better or the worse. Overall the game is fun and engaging with easy controls that take skill to master. The game runs very smoothly with little to no lag with little issues. However the game does require some RNG luck, while no run is truly impossible some are MUCH harder than others and each and every run is completely unique. I would give it a 10/10 and have played over 30 hrs of it.
