While I was invested enough in the story to ignore the 3 hour runtime, and enjoyed the performances of the Lucky 7/Losers' Club, as well as Tim Curry as Pennywise (Dude REALLY knows how to ham), I personally wouldn't call it a "horror" movie. A lot of the scenes that are SUPPOSED to be scary (Examples: Stan's head in the fridge, the dog-headed clown, and of course, the BALLOONS), just come off as cheesy and silly, and there aren't even that many "scary" scenes to begin with since most of the runtime is devoted to conversations between the characters. And as for Curry, like I said, he's AMAZING as Pennywise, but for me, he only had one legitimately creepy scene: The drain scene, where he kills Georgie. The rest of the time, he just comes across as too silly to be scary, not helped but whatever he does that is meant to be a "scare" (Again, the BALLOONS! Seriously, just having multi-colored balloons float around doesn't automatically make them scary!). And then there's the climax. It was lacking in action, and the Spider looks more like it belongs in some family-friendly monster movie than it does a Stephen King adaptation, let alone ANY horror movie. All in all, It's an OK film, but it's just too cheesy to be an actual horror movie.
