Story:
Some people say that summer is in the wrong because she obviously knows that Tom is getting attached to her and she doesn’t want that, however, she was clear from the beginning saying “I am not looking for anything serious”.
There was a scene in the car while they were going to the movies, and Tom asked “what are we doing?” And she didn’t give a straight answer, now I think that she doesn’t have to considering that she already told him what she was doing from the beginning, however it is also obvious that he is getting attached and wants to know what exactly is going on and what she feels for him.
I like Tom’s wise younger sister, she was the one telling him he should ask, and that is a great piece of advice, because I think that there’s nothing Implicit in relationships, people shouldn’t go around assuming stuff about their relationships; that is exactly why he should ask if he feels like he’s not sure what is happening. Although he was right asking, he took her answer “I dunno I am just happy” as enough, and that is his fault, if he wanted more answers he could’ve just asked her again and just tell her that he needs to understand.
After Summer said “we’re just friends” for the first time, Tom saying “you’re not the only one that have a say in this, and I say we’re a couple” is just plain stupid because them being a couple is a decision that they both take together, not him alone and as long as one of them doesn’t want to be in a relationship then this relationship is practically nonexistent.
Time after time Summer kept being clear about what she feels and what she wants, even after Tom gave in to the thought that they are not a couple and said “we don’t have to put a label on it”, however, when he asked for consistency, for her promising that she’s not going to wake up one day and feel differently, she said “I can’t give you that, no one can”.
Movie Itself:
The story telling was good, at first I didn’t like the way days have been going forwards and backwards, I thought that it would be stupid, but later on I understood that the story would be so much less emotionally touching if it just went on day by day in order, because that would get me bored.
The colors are great, sounds are soothing, however, some scenes had that irritating angle change every single second and that just got on my nerves.
