The hype behind this movie is REAL.
Dune: Part Two has easily taken the crown for the all-time greatest second film to a series franchise in history, and Denis Villanueva deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for making someone riding a Sandworm actually look cool.
Dune: Part Two is better than the first, and Dune as a whole has made the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Abominations look like a sick joke perpetrated against the unfortunate audience watching in horror at the complete & utter destruction of their childhood.
As with all Novel to Film adaptations, there have been changes & omissions compared to the source material. With that in mind, and even with The Dune Chronicles being my favorite book series of all-time; it took the entire drive home from the theatre, before my mind even fully processed the changes & omissions (some major) to certain subplots to the story with how well the film works overall. Most all of the changes made were understandable, and some of them I even thought worked out better than was originally written. Which is saying a lot.
The ending is set up perfectly for a third offering to the franchise leading into the second novel “Dune Messiah”. I hope with every fiber of my being they decide to at least complete Paul’s character arc, by making more films to cover the third novel “Children of Dune”, if not all six.
Honestly, after seeing this film, I am convinced Denis Villanueva could actually pull off all 6 novels if he wanted, and sweet Lordy Jumping Baby Jesus; I sure hope he does.
Every member of the audience clapped at the end, and walked out of the theater with smiles on their faces knowing they had just seen something special.
This movie is about as perfect a film I have ever come across in every way. The Casting was unbelievable, and I cannot imagine a better adaptation of Dune every being produced.
