As a longtime horse owner and lover my children always give me horse books for Christmas. This year was no exception. I was excited to begin reading, but every chapter in Horse contains cruelty, indifference, and death. The author is the biggest soapbox author I have ever read. I almost abandoned the book when she killed off the filly, Sallie Waters in a most horrible way, but I have always been taught to finish what I start. I plowed through to the bitter end and would equate the read to my most recent root canal.
