Slowly losing faith in Zach Snyder's ability to put out a quality movie, not just a fireworks shows. First it was 'Army of The Dead' that left a lot to be desired for those of us who enjoy quality zombie movies with strong story lines and characters - great CGI, and a visual feast for the eyes isn't enough, unfortunately.
Now, Snyder has decided to desecrate a genre that George Lucas and James Cameron built with their two innovative hands. Rebel Moon floats between sub-par dialogue with holes, Star Wars tropes (a village fighting back against an empire? Really? We haven't seen that one before), and last, but definitely not least, 2 hours of fireworks and slow motion fight scenes - which weren't too bad but surely this can't be enough...surely.
I must say though, the scene where dude attempts to tame the gryphon and slow motion jumps on it's back was pretty cool - but what was the point of the scene? To show us he's athletic? Will it appear again to rescue him (picture LOTR eagles rescuing Frodo & Sam)?
Just like Army of The Dead, the movie didn't need to be 2 hours. It felt labored after a while because the dialogue was pedestrian at best. Anyway, it's a 3/5 at best. Definitely not bothering with part 2 - curiosity and boredom might make me do it though, they definitely didn't do enough to create much intrigue about Part 2. If you're interested in a similar plot, Foundation on Apple is incredible, it's a series though but incredible.
