I have been optimistic from the start and I am absolutely loving it. No screen adaptation for any story has ever been line for line, truth for truth, in accordance to the original literature on which it is based, for some this seems to be the be all and end all. For myself, I find joy in the numerous nods to the first age and beyond, meeting the many characters that Tolkien fans have adored for years on paper, and also the new names and faces we are being introduced to. Unifying a divided people against the threat of evil has always been centre stage in Tolkien’s work and that message is as loud as ever within this show. It is a pleasure to return to the world of Middle Earth in the Rings of Power.
