It's well written. However, there are certain aspects of the story that just don't jive. I know they are there to drive the narrative forward. I think maybe stories like these need to try out new narratives. Anyone reading a book like this is bound to already be aware of the tried and true twists and turns of these stories. This "being safe" is boring to me now. Writers are still afraid to give women more agency. I'm sure real life was more exciting than this fiction often is. For one thing, the man is supposed to be the richest man in America. I expect more in the heroine's story. Maybe the description is just for pomp and circumstance but that part could have just been left out if you're not gonna use it. Maybe the author lacks imagination. I'm halfway through and feeling more and more disappointed.
