Based on the trailer I really wanted to see this movie. Asteroid City looked like a place that could make you willing to sell all of your possessions in order to move to it and live happily ever after. Hanks and Johansson and Matt Dillon and Edward Norton among other A listers; this is going to be a great movie, right? Wrong! At least for me. Maybe you have to be an actor or more sophisticated or something to get this movie, to enjoy this movie. The use of color and photography (which I loved) was interesting and for me that's pretty much all there was except for a couple of funny moments. The story line was hard to follow, confusing and choppy. Other reviewers say sub plots were subtle. I found my attention wandering multiple times and even momentarily dozing although I went into the theater with heightened anticipation and excitement for this film. My wife thought it was a terrible movie although she laughed a few times. We watched the whole movie and I left feeling I bought the Brooklyn Bridge or a bag of apples with spoiled centers. Disappointed that aforementioned actors would sign on to this movie. In the future I will not make the assumption that if they are in a movie it will be good. Leave this one for actors to watch. Save your theater money for something else and watch this later on Netflix.
