Any opportunity to talk about & watch aeroplanes for an hour is to be welcomed, & as a lifelong aviation enthusiast, I can't deny having enjoyed some of the visuals, BUT, as many others have commented, the presentation leaves so much to be desired.
I can't work out who this programme is aimed at - if it's existing plane-spotters, then it's so dumbed down as to be laughable. Do we need a mad woman who waves her arms about too much trying to explain how a jet engine works? - of course not. If it's aimed at people with no previous interest, then I doubt if it's converted anyone, & if it's aimed at children (as Peter Snow & Andi Peters seem to think), then shouldn't it be on before 8pm?
The most interesting bits so far (after 2 programmes) have been the collectors of flying experiences & bits & pieces, & the comments from the ex-BA pilot, all of whom clearly know what they're talking about. The estimable Arthur Williams has also been wasted, although if we knew more about his fellow field-dwellers, that might have proved more diverting.
Still, I look forward to tonight's military theme, particularly as I had the good fortune to visit East Mids Aeropark a couple of weeks ago, & to have my own guided tour of the magnificent Nimrod.
