Beautifully crafted, visually stunning, with strong but simple theme of duality running throughout from the music (duet played by the leads) the battles (thai chi or yin yang) to the characters (good/evil) and even the fighting styles (masculin/feminine). Balance. Everything is in shades of misty grey and charcoal except for the candles, and blood of course! Is it more style than substance? Perhaps, but WHAT style. Excellent film that you just can't take your eyes off. The fights are brutal, yet beautiful, and the performances top notch.
