Spoiler Review!
Beau has been struggling and failing his whole life to escape his mom’s sphere of influence. His mom was toxic, possessive, and manipulative. He suffered extreme anxiety, guilt, fear, and paranoia.
The movie is mainly about guilt. It's what would happen if all the stuff you worry about in your therapist's office—that everyone is mad at you, that you're a huge disappointment to your parents, that you'll get accused of doing something wrong and not even know what it is—were true.
The movie is full of symbolic scenes that will sometimes make you confuse reality with fantasy. It's so dramatic and intense, but it is definitely a piece of art!
Joaquin Phoenix outdid himself! 🎩
