I don't think there are any better movies than this one. It's based on an excellent book. A story for the ages. The casting is perfect. A young Elizabeth Taylor is the best possible choice to bring the role of passionately horse obsessed Velvet Brown to life. Mickey Rooney as the slightly shady, sharp eyed Mi Taylor, is spot on. Anne Revere still makes me wish she were my mother, not just Araminty Brown, and I'm 56. Donald Crisp is the ideal actor to embody the always at least slightly frustrated, put upon head of the family, Herbert Brown. Angela Lansbury is amazing as eldest sister, Edwina and the youngest actors as Malvolia and Donald round out the cast beautifully.
I don't know how many times I've watched this movie. Been watching it for decades.
