I don't know what y'all are talking about taking this movie so seriously. It's so fun! I laughed outloud at a lot of the moments that Jennifer and Josh execute. Also, the supporting cast is incredible. Sonia Braga? Jennifer Coolidge? Lenny Kravitz? Hello??
If we do want to take something seriously, I love how it brings up the family dynamics, some of the issues that come from grown ups getting married in their late 30's/early 40's+, fear of commitment, in laws crossing boundaries, family being determined not to like your significant other just because, getting lost in perfectionism that you lose touch with what is going on around you...those all feel like serious issues to me. They just happen to have the comedy with it. Also, J-Lo fainting when she sees blood is freaking hilarious.
Long comment short, I love the movie. Told my fam to watch it and a couple already had and said they loved it, too. It's meant to be light
