This is one of the best musicals ever put on screen! Betty Hutton as Annie Oakley is superb and tailor made for her comic style! This was Howard Keels film debut and he is a very handsome Frank Butler! The Irving Berlin music is absolutely stunning as well as the costumes and sets! A fast moving movie that showcases everyone's talent right down to Papa Bull! Fact finding is the majority of this story is true. Before Annie Oakley died, she had taught 1,500 women to defend themselves with guns for self-defense. I saw this movie in 1973 before the rights of Irving Berlins music had expired for this musical/i have waited for this movie on DVD and I cannot get enough of it! Just watching the backstory is a fascinating treat! ONE OF MGMS BEST!
