What a ride, I'm sitting here feeling overwhelmed because that was the perfect swansong for this beloved crew of misfits. It had everything and more that we love, the humour, banter, emotional moments and epic battles. It felt even more dangerous here though and the emotional backstory of Rocket broke my freakin heart. This kind of magic of mixing humour and genuine heartbreak is rare but the guardians films have nailed it every single time. Every character new and old shines (you'll fall in love with Cosmo and don't get me started on Floor Lylla and Teefs I'd sell my soul for them) This is what movies theatres are made for. gotg is not only an adventure and an escape but its poignant thoughtful whilst also maintaining its wit and charm (I've never grown tolove characters more than Drax Nebula and Mantis they're incredible) and even though this is Rockets story it is still all of their stories and the love and friendship these wacky but ultimately loyal friends share is very moving and Im on the verge of tears thinking about it. I think the ending is perfect, it gives hope but is also sad without having to do anything for shock value and the animal scenes, though hard to watch, were not gratuitous and simply served Rockets character and gave him a full emotional arc, as all the characters got tbh. Some things are sad in different ways but as a massive fan of these guys and these films this is everything I wanted and more. I'm left overwhelmed and happy/sad all at the same time. I'm gonna miss them all SO MUCH. But everyone involved has done a phenomenal job, from the actors to the music and cgi and writing, I couldn't have asked for a better adventure for my guardians. I want more but I know they're out there somewhere under the sky, flying together again someday.
