Here I am 4 years LATE.
When the Irishman was ford released it was met with mixed reception, critics praised it and called it another one of Scorsese masterpieces. Many audiences agreed, but a lot didn't. It was called boring, and a waste of 3.5 hours of people's lives. Mostly superhero movie fans and anti long movie people. I Finally saw the Irishman and it was kind of both... sort of. Nah I mean hardly both, this movie definitely wasn't a waste of 3 and a half hours for sure. And what interested me about that statement is what an earth people would do in that time. Let's get the obvious positives out the way, the performances are brilliant. De niro is excellent as are lead, yes, he certainly is an older guy, but his character Frank is still much older and De niro really felt like that, he disappeared into the role. Pacino may age on the outside but not on the inside. He's still got his classic energy and definitely didn't over do it. Joey as russell was the standout here. He's usually the crazy guy but here's he's calm and knocks it out the park. And ray rammoa being in this was just hilarious. The movies length flies by, and never once boring. It brilliantly made, has a great score, and I had no issue with the vfx. The one thing about this film that puzzled me was my feelings when it ended. When I woke up the next day I forget a lot about it. It felt weird. But other than that the movies still brilliant.
Final score: 87/100%
