I think a lot of viewers did't 'get' the point of this movie. yes, it could be a bit slow, but it was a deep movie, meant to highlight how war can strip away the person you were and leave a shell of hurt in its place. hence, why the main character called the dog 'Dog'. He had to de-personalize her otherwise it's too painful. The dog is symbolic of the man. The wounds and the healing and the process that both went through. It's not a fantastic movie but the message is one to think about and hopefully cause folks to have empathy for those who served, including the canine heros.
