Dauntless is amazing.
-Pros-
The gameplay is simply incredible. Character control is very important in these kind of games, and they nailed. Evasive dodging is very fluid, and yet balanced as to encourage you to manage your resources accordingly.
I love its aesthetics, the menus are incredibly streamlined, and their financial model is not in your face, ever. Seriously, for a game that is f2p, I am honestly surprised that I’m not seeing any pop-ups or menu prioritization of purchasable cosmetics.
“You do not bog me down with 50 hours of cut scenes every time I slay a monster, and you are self-aware enough to know not to incorporate excessive amounts of exposition - for that I love you.”
True cross platform, period.
-Things I’d like to see-
Expand the main hub a bit, in terms of size for more in-between mission exploring/killing time. Maybe incorporate day/night cycles and some weather there.
Odd request, but while queued up and waiting for everyone to get ready, I need something to do that might discourage me from just pulling out my phone while I wait. So being able to look at other characters profiles, rotate the other characters around, etc, would be a nice quality of life.
(If this is already in game, forgive me)
I’d like to see some methods of preventing damage other than straight dodging, like blocking. More instances of being able to repel or reflect projectiles, especially back at the mobs, would be cool.
-TL;DR-
Absolutely great game - at minimum, it is by far the best free game on Epic game store (sorry Fortnite). The actual gameplay seems to have been the developer’s priority, and the graphical style a close, close second.
