I enjoyed this.
The film wasn't about historical accuracy, politics, or even religious impact. The film contrasted the old church and stodgy protocol to an open and simple dogma that represents the "other half" of the world today.
Those of us old enough to remember the world politics that the 2 Papas came from know how difficult things were. The film did a good job showing only enough of the political chaos (pre-Peron Argentina and Nazi Germany) that provided the background for these men.
The modern church problems, as terrible as they are, are small when compared to the world these leaders came from.
Anyone who thinks they've got it all figured out should watch this and someone who might bristle at the Sign of the Cross will both enjoy the film. Both the story and the sensational performances of the entire cast make it a great watch.
