Did two failed film makers, using pretty much the same cast, run out of money for each of their projects and just splice two films together? Did they toss a coin to see which project was the beginning and which was the end? Is this an example of "How NOT to Make a Movie"? Just too many questions and not enough answers.
One thing seems to be for certain... They duped a lot of people into holding out to the very end hoping for any tiny tidbit of an answer or a loop back to the original plot, and no one got one. Maybe it's just a lesson in disappointment, but not even a creative one.
