As a FNAF fan, I enjoyed the movie, but not the plot twist whatsoever. I expected it to be a lot like the video game…
SPOILER ALERT ‼️
firstly, they kept Michael’s real name, but his little sister was named Abby, instead of Elizabeth, which makes sense if the movie is a reimagined version in a different universe, but I really hoped that they would keep the backstory and the lore the same. As well as Micheal’s brother, in the original game his name is Chris (aka crying child), but in the new one it is “Gered”. AND WORST OF ALL, we were all expecting William Afton to be Micheal’s (the security guard) father, right?! WRONG, this is where the failed plot twist appears and we all find out that William Afton is Vanessa’s father, which was never the case in the games lore, and was absolutely horrid considering the fact the Vanessa is not an important character, and never was, which made the plot twist seem pointless and ruined the film.
The film in general was a bit confusing especially in the beginning, it definitely had some emotion, but the second we found out that William Afton was Vanessa’s father, we were all disappointed, and by all I mean the whole theatre boo’d in shock and disappointment.
Overall the movie was somewhat enjoyable and funny at some moments, the story had potential but it felt rushed which ruined it. I think casting Josh Hutcherson was perfect for this role as well as Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa who looked just like her in the video games.
I also believe this movie is more suitable for a younger audience, it was disturbing but also quite childish and the jump scares were not hardcore, I’d say it’s an age range from 12-16, and before watching the movie, I’d recommend not expecting it to be like the games lore at all, because it is not whatsoever which was very disappointing.
