Have very mixed feelings and more on the disappointed side. Bradley Cooper gets an E for effort. The transformation as far as his looks was fantastic. I felt the movie didn't flow especially the first half. One minute they were treating it like a quasi-musical (reminded me of the recent Elvis) (and I have a Dance background) and then the next they were using a Bernstein-sounding style with dramatic drums, it sounded too contrived. When they used the FAMOUS instrumental from the FIGHT scene in West Side Story for a scene where they were arriving at the home, it seemed too odd and almost disrespectful..lol. Yes, the cancer scene was way too long and too much about the wife. She was married to a famous man who was halfway in the closet. In that era that was so common. Everyone here is in love with her, I didn't personally find her that appealing as a woman. Actually, Sarah Silverman brought some NYC spunk to the movie for me. I think Bernstein is a treasure and I give Cooper kudos for the effort.
