*spoilers*
The story is pretty interesting but suffers from something I was expecting almost immediately upon playing it. Being that it is incomplete and is intended to push future DLC, there is no Diablo featured in it except for about a half second of a flash of his face when you ultimately kill Lilith. If you focus just the main story you can complete it in a day or two and then it just kind of feels like there's really nothing to do, except farm loot with nothing to really use it on.
The gameplay loop is ... okay. It doesn't really feel amazing to blow up hordes of mobs as the skills kind of feel lackluster and resource management can be quite high so sometimes you can actually feel yourself just spamming basic attacks for longer than you'd like to do be able to use skills that just kinda feel meh at best.
I've played Lightning/Ice/Fire Sorc, Necromancer, and several iterations of Druid through the campaign and after the first run through it can really feel like a slog. Unfortunately I don't seem to be alone in the sentiments that it gets pretty boring after the story campaign because all the friends I started playing with no longer want to play it. Some quit after about 3-5 days.
The combat and skill choices that were touted as being massively expansive in the sneak peeks seem kind of misleading. The choices now feel kind of shallow to put it bluntly. Most of which consist of 3 choices per skill tier where you can kind of mix and match, and an ultimate skill eventually that you would expect to be on a separate keybind or something and not taking up one of the very scarce skill slots on your bar seeing as how its nearly a full minute recast on most. If you're coming to this game looking for endless build possibilities you're going to be let down.
Dungeons in the game after a few kind of all look the same, theres one cellar pattern, one cave design, one ice cave, etc.. and they kind of just feel like the directions are flipped around a bit or portions are rearranged. VERY VERY few dungeons out of the who knows how many actually look or feel unique. So quite rapidly its same old same old feel.
This doesn't quite feel like a $70 if I am being honest, and hopefully seasonal content can address some of this but as of now.. it's already feeling stale and lonely to play.
