Such a captivatingly sorrowful story. So many hidden meanings in every line, drawing a beautiful yet horrific image enveloping Arabic culture and language. It gently introduces one to a religion by introducing stories from that religion, yet not going all the way through them. While some islamic readers likely take offense to this book, there is no doubt that many of the aspects of this story are so real for so many people. I've never had a graphic novel captivate me in such a way. Truly a stunning piece of literature, although not for the faint of heart. To enjoy this novel, one must push their own religious ideals to the sidelines and learn to accept that others will have differing views and they must try to understand these views instead if judging them. This is truly my favorite piece of literature that I have ever read and it will hold a special place in my memory.
