One star is being generous. The movie has no plot, antagonist, or characters. The movie only exists as a cash grab to create a franchise. The entirety of this movie takes place in the same single location which has nothing interesting going for it. The characters have no development or personality besides a stereotype. The writers somehow made a 1 and a half hour movie where the only thing that happens is a forgetful battle sequence. The CGI in this film looks like something from the Percy Jackson films. This movie takes itself too seriously and forces its actors to do Batman impressions for its duration. I haven’t read the source material and this film has scared me off of even considering to read the books.
I was expecting an average, live-action Disney adventure film but what I got was somehow worse. This movie manages to set up an adventure but only show us a trailer for it. I wouldn’t force this movie on my worst enemy, but then again they wouldn’t even remember it.

Personally, I have mixed feelings on this. The story is intriguing but drags on especially in the middle and end. It starts slow, ramps up, and then slows down again. Not to say I didn’t enjoy it, however, because this read was a good time.
