Legitimately nonsensical and ridiculous throughout. Pacing, structure, dialogue, all are done at such a sub-par level even respective to the lowered expectations I have for these shows. I understand timing and budget are an issue when producing a crossover like this, but that doesn't make it better, it only goes some of the way to explaining why this is as bad as it is.
I can say that I think these actors deserve better, and the only thing worth watching in this is Brandon Routh's turn as Superman, a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal outing.
If these crossovers have to be a thing, either raise your game or lower your expectations for what you can do. While I can applaud ambition, ambition with disregard for limitations is less impressive and more foolish. These actors can and have given far better performances than the ones we see here, provided the right material, and it is a disservice to them and to the fans who have stuck around this long to produce a product that is so painful to sit through.
