I honestly think it’s impossible to see all the aspects of Elvis that made him an awesome interpreter of music. There was so much more to his life that either was not delved into enough or wasn’t mentioned at all. But, I don’t know how you can do all that in 2 and 1/2 hours. How his own men wrote the book that killed him (in my
little opinion), and how there was so much more to his health history that would explain how no amount of drugs can stop that “all over” pain, much less the absolutely debilitating and painful
abdomen he had with that ENLARGED and TWISTED COLON. And how he could even breathe with that emphysema and hugely ineffective pump that tried so hard to continue with the work he felt he had to keep up with to take care of all of his employees ( many of which
made his life so much harder-even if it was from ignorance). The overall autoimmunity he suffered
from is typical of the TBIs he suffered ( especially
the one that knocked him out for 2 or more hrs.)— the same things we only learned about 10 or 15 yrs. ago. That was what really killed him and no amt . of drugs were going to give him relief. So
sad-they will have to make another movie to not only “correct” this one, but , also to address his loving and giving nature.
At least this movie, in my opinion, showed the kind of low-life Col. Parker was. Pure predator-
that’s all Tom Parker ( or whoever he really was )
ever was.
Well, even with the faults he did have, Elvis is truly in Heaven.
I also did not think they made Gladys out to be the kind and gentle woman ( with a temper, at times) that anyone ever interviewed said she was.
The Gladys in the movie was unrecognizable to me. And I’ve watched zillions of documentaries- good and bad . Just like politics-you read the right and the left -then you decide who is making more sense and is more consistent in their views.
And, of course, and as always- that’s with time and circumstance in mind-always…V.H.
