A visual treat that is more of a love song to Raymond Chandler than a movie. Setting the film in 1939 allows for the usual eye candy of wardrobe and cars. The settings are easy on the eye especially as we are in the world of the rich. The plot in any noir-ish film is the usual McGuffin. I lost track of who was after who but allowed the visual soufflé carry me along. Liam Neeson is way too old for the part frankly. It was nice to see Colm Meaney enhance his pension too. The Chaffeur was incredibly charismatic even with limited screen time ( although the "job offer" at the end was pure fantasy in 1939 ). A 90 watt visual treat with 40 watt plot

A slightly overlong caper film that goes for a twist too many. The plot revolves around a motley gang of thieves operating in S Korea. They reluctantly team up with a Heist team from China lead by a sketchy operator ( Macau Park ). On the positive front there are a number of quality action sequences, notably Macau Park abseiling and avoiding the Chinese Mob. However I suspect that the western viewer doesn't get the full flavour of this film. A lot is made of the distrust between the Korean and Chinese. The languages switch rapidly between Korean and Chinese ( with occasional use of Japanese and English ). You will miss this if you watch the dubbed version. The action switches from Korea to Hong Kong and Macau and at times you are not sure where you are. For instance there is a long action sequence in Korea but the Detectives appear to be from Hong Kong. Not sure that Chinese cops can operate in Korea? Anyway, it is a reasonable action film in the Jewel Thief envelope - just a bit too long

This feels like a showreel of action sequences rather than an actual series. It looks marvellous with plenty of great CG effects but this dystopian world doesn't really hang together. The fact that only 1% of the population survived a comet is rather rushed through in the first five minutes. I suspect the makers wanted to get to the main course - a Mad Max world with pantomime villains and a laconic Hero, The Deliveryman are basically Amazon Couriers with Guns. They use these guns rather a lot especially against the villainous CM Corporation. Do CM run things or is it the Government? It is never clear. The crucial plotlines are fairly muddled - I kept wondering what the difference was between District A, the General District and the Core. One had nice air, another had rubbish air and another had terrible air. In the end it felt like the plot was rushing to arrive at the next action sequence. The supposedly rotten CM Corporation spends a lot of effort to get food and air to people it despises. Anyway the Hero ( 5-8 ) was suitably charismatic and laconic while Refugee 034 ( also 5-7 ) supplied the Boyband look. Great action but needed more room for the plot.
