A wonderful book, but short on a few details. There are still some unanswered questions I have. Anyone who has ever worked in a shelter will tell you that when they are brought into "the room", the dog just "knows", and will start freaking out, begging for their life. Did Cricket start freaking out as he was led to the "gravel pit" or was she still a happy go lucky puppy as she was being led to her death? Did Noem take time to bury Cricket and the goat, or were their corpses just left for the coyotes and turkey vultures to dispose of? I'm picturing the "gravel pit" as a haunted place filled with bones and corpses, smelling of death from miles away, like something out of a Rob Zombie film. I could be wrong. Just need more clarification. When her daughter said "Where's Cricket?" how did Noem respond? Did she tell her daughter she murdered the puppy, or did she just make up a story like she made up the one about Kim Jong Un? How did her daughter react? Did she cry, or was her daughter already numb to the fact that her Mom routinely murdered defenseless animals? And where exactly did she teach Sunday School? Has anyone checked to see if her students are okay? Are all her students accounted for? Someone should really take time to investigate the "gravel pit" on Noem's property. Who knows what may be buried out there? Other that that, it's probably the best book I've read about a psychopathic killer since "Helter Skelter". Five stars.
