I was never interested in Barbie dolls when I was a kid & I still don't have any interest in Barbie, the only reason I decided to watch this movie is because I like Margot Robbie as an actor & I mainly watched it for her. While there are alot of criticisms about this movie being "woke" & "feminist", but if people actually pay close attention to the movie they will realise that the Barbies were actually portrayed as the real villains in the story. In Barbie land, only the Barbies have jobs & have homes, while the Kens were oppressed & treated as mere servants with no importance compared to the Barbies. Barbie land is a very matriarchal society, which is the complete opposite of the real world which is a very patriarchal society where women are generally oppressed or dominated by men. The movie also touched on how Barbie is a bad influence on young girls & women in terms of body image. So the "feminism" aspects are actually mostly on the surface, yes it promotes strong women, telling young girls & women that they can be who they want to be & do what they want. But the real message of the story is that we should all strive for a better world and better society where men & women are treated equally, neither dominating the other, everyone, whether you are a man or woman, deserves a fair go, a fair chance.
Overall this was a decent movie, not great, but watchable, I like the real message behind the story.
