Whilst you may say it is a fairly obvious homage to several brilliant previous crime thrillers, the negative reviews of this film are, in my opinion, not based upon the content but more the context. This film is extremely enjoyable with a gripping storyline which toys with your emotions from beginning to end. With strong performances from Jamie Foxx and Gerrard Butler this film can be compared to the David Fincher piece ‘Seven’. Butlers character conveys shades of Anthony Hopkins’ Hannibal Lectre and Heath Ledgers’ Joker. It is not on the level of these films however is not to be scoffed at.
