Kiara Williams

I wast really interested in the main characters relationships with his family and friend. I enjoyed the journey for the family, I wish it was focused on more. Also, the fact that cal completely neglects his best friend who always seems to be there for him- Is a hard pill to swallow. Especially since he never really does right by her even at the end of the book. Cals character comes off as unlikable and shallow. His “whatevership” with Leon is truly bland. There’s no chemistry at all and it’s hard to understand why they like each other at all. If there was a part two to this book, the update on their relationship would logically be that it ended because it was just a typical case of puppy love turned toxic. Cal is way too controlling and self absorbed, while leon is closed off and distant. The character with the most depth in the book is probably Kiara with her having her good moments and sneaky ones. She almost seemed like a sociopath lol. My favorite character was Becca the mom just because of how sweet she is. I too struggle with anxiety and it was oddly nice seeing a nice woman try to manage mundane and stressful situations while living such a big life. Overall, a decent, Easy read but not life changing. I don’t regret it. But I probably wouldn’t recommend it..at least not to anyone mature. Perhaps a kid that thinks they know it all.

Prepare to cry and feel like you should be doing more with your life throughout this entire book. The characters are beautiful. You’ll grow to love them and hope that the title is a lie. Obviously Mateo unknowingly chose his fate but I just wanna make sure that we all get that victor probably accidentally ran down Rufus rushing to his dying fiancée…that’s probably obvious too, I just needed the closure of it being said. I can still appreciate their journey and pretend that their ending was different-that somehow they beat death. It just makes me feel better.
