Anyone who complains about the religious aspect of the show is not understanding what is being done here. This show is something special. It takes us down the path of isolationism and how fanaticism is born out of the best of intentions in many cases, but mostly degrade into crazed insanity. This is not your typical horror and if you did not like his other shows you will most likely not enjoy this. For me, it was just better and better after each episode. The use of the hymns and the religious undertones may offend some, but they served a very specific purpose to great results.
