I really liked this book. It was a keen character study and it explains poignantly why Trump behaves the way he does. Im surprised to see some people saying in the reviews he was the " favorite" son". The author was not saying that at all. Brother,.Fred Trump was the father's favorite. He had little use for Donald and wanted Fred to take over his businesses. But when Fred lost himself to addiction the father " settled" for Donald and finally turned to him. But The Donald clearly was his choice by default and consequently Donald remained desperately in need of his father's approval and sadly never quite measured up in the eyes of his father. I believe it's what drives him to this day. Feeling not quite good enough. One added thing I loved about this book was that it took place not far from where I grew up in NY. There were so many familiar memories because of the neighborhood and I almost felt more compassion for Trump( who I don't like at all) because he very well could have been a distant family member
