This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece, the acting, writing, soundtrack, cinematography, and everything else is absolutely incredible. It managed to be haunting and gruesome but also beautiful and cathartic. That being said this is definitely an art house film; itโs not like a blockbuster full of CGI and high speed action and movement. Itโs feels like the movie grabs you by the wrist and pulls you through a tunnel of chaos and beauty. The grip tightens until your left smiling at the end just as youโd hope. The people who think this movie is awful weโre probably expecting just a horror film but above all else itโs a drama. People seem to think that itโs pointless and doesnโt have a plot. Just because the characters donโt say clearly โIโm going to do this because...โ doesnโt mean itโs completely useless. You donโt know the characters motivations and the reason you canโt find them is because your looking at this movie on the surface; but the most important and spectacular part is whatโs under the surface. Nothing is told to you upfront itโs the subtle details that bring it together and the people who hate it just donโt have the brain to see subtle things instead they want constant action and jump scares because they have a short attention span. Donโt be discouraged give it a chance, and if your feeling confused look up a video explanation on YouTube. Try Acolytes Of Horrorโs video called โHow Midsommar Brainwashes You.โ
