Really disheartening that so many people find this book compelling. First off the plot is really boring. I found myself thinking, “when will this get more interesting?” The characters are not particularly likable. The themes on race and class lack depth and feel unrealistic. I know there is probably a book out there that discusses these themes well, but this was a failure. Find something else to read.
