TOO MUCH GOING ON AT ONCE….
Unfortunately although I absolutely love Star Trek TNG, this is way too busy making it very difficult to follow and making you constantly hit the pause and rewind button because it hardly makes sense until you rewatch it over and over.
Season one was better than season two, I like the introduction of the cameo appearances from the TNG cast, I thought Seven would have a stronger presence in the show but instead she fades into the background with a quite and reserved personality beside her female romantic partner.
Although it’s nice to see Q, Guinan, the Borg Queen and Brent Spiner who plays the ancestor of DR Soong, it’s just way too busy with all these different characters battling for attention against Picards story, all in many different directions.
Most disappointing of all is the way the show introduces a dark spiritistic theme that was never part of TNG or VOYAGER or DS9, it’s like watching poltergeist at times.
In my opinion each episode should have it’s own theme that starts and finishes like the original shows had the way we loved them and that would make it easier to follow, then you could still introduce several cameos and explain where they are and what they are up to in each episode and storyline or adventure.
I absolutely love Patrick Stewart but sadly he’s an elderly man now and doesn’t carry his presence, it was a mistake to base the show on a legend of TNG who struggles to keep up, and DONT! try furthering or adapting the story of Jean Luc, it’s already perfect, again if his character made an occasional cameo in the show now and again it would give Picard more dignity. Nobody wants to see an elderly man in his late life starting new romances.
Bit of a shame, I will keep watching but just for the loyalty I guess…
