Obviously for teenagers who have never heard of the Arthurian romances.
I assume the writers haven't either. Whoever commissioned it probably thought, mmmm, we have only had 7 different series based ever so loosely on Arthur. Time for an 8th. But this time mix up all the characters as none of our target audience will know who they are anyway. And confuse them with the time line. Is it set at the end of roman rule? Is Christianity gradually taking over pagan beliefs? Yes I guess so. Oh but wait someone mentions crusades to Jerusalem. Who knows. Oh and throw vikings into the mix because Netflix has done at least 5 series on vikings and I guess they are popular.
Now about the acting.
The people who are taking the roles (notice I didn't say actors) seem to be reading off autocues which must include instructions such as now look serious, now frown, now look away distracted.
And what is it with Netflix original drama and beheadings?
I have started to watch 2 other drama series recently which had graphic beheadings in the first 10 minutes of episode 1. At least with cursed they waited until episode 6.
So you can't tell the humans from the trees.
Oh and call me a fascist if you wish but at least half the characters are black. I suppose that is OK because King Arthur is fictitious anyway, but anyone over a certain age will find it strange that a medieval or dark age land purporting to be Britain was not inhabited by celts or Anglo saxons.
