I thought this was going to be a "road trip" book. After all, there was a map showing the route from New York to California. Don't expect to get to California. I was eager to get back on the road and was impatient with all the digressions, so I skipped some pages. This was a collection of stories, hung together by a plot with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow trip to New York. The characters were interesting though. I especially liked Billy. I especially disliked Duchess and thought he got his just reward.
