It’s basically a Christopher Guest (Best in show, Waiting for Guffman, Spinal Tap) mockumentary about small town teen girls competing in the local beauty pageant in the 90s. This movie’s dark comedy and hilarious performances are completely underrated.
It’s packed full of hysterical characters and outrageous moments. And I have to give a shout out to Allison Janney (Mom, I,Tonya, Juno) because she steals every scene and ensures a good laugh.
It’s a perfect mix of dark humor and good story telling with a few sweet moments for good measure.
