What a disappointment. A totally wonderful cast, not utilised well at all. Where was the magic? I get they went for a different story - the battle with Slugworth wanting to stop Wonka; but no real discovery of his chocolate, his ingredients or any journey of developing his ideas and experiments. Brief attempts at a shop and wowing the crowds, but not enough back story at all. Hugh Grant (oompa Loompa) gave the only mystery and magic to a secret world of chocolate. I expected way more charisma from Timothée Chalamet. Songs were meh and it felt a bit like a kids programme to me. 2/5. No Christmas feelings here I'm afraid.
