Dire. It started reasonably well but in the end I couldn't wait for it to be put out of its misery. Wells wrote a really good story - so why butcher it and water it down so much? Usual BBC preaching and the obligation to put 'wimmin' at the centre of the action only spoilt it even more. This was a massive disappointment. After the two US efforts at telling the story I was really looking forwards to this as it promised so much. Have the BBC forgotten what entertainment is? Thank heaven for Jeff Wayne's version.

Just watching it. What you get when you try to make humour PC. Mildly amusing, very much a case of one joke done to death.
